PURPOSE/DESCRIPTION:

The Lariat is the official student-run newspaper of Cooper City High School, dedicated to informing, educating, and amplifying the voices of the CCHS community.

We publish quarterly print editions and maintain an active online news website to highlight school events, sports, student life, community issues, arts & entertainment, and more.

Students gain real-world newsroom experience by:

  • Pitching stories

  • Researching & interviewing

  • Reporting & writing

  • Photography & multimedia

  • Editing & fact-checking

  • Designing print + digital layouts

Our publication strives to uphold ethical journalism, credibility, inclusivity, and professionalism. Students may also participate in district, state, and national journalism competitions and leadership opportunities.

MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have successfully completed Journalism I (prerequiste course) 

  • Must apply for placement/staff position

  • Must complete an interview with Ms. Otero for approval and role assignment

MEETINGS / Course Schedule:

  • Meets during designated class period
